Cannabis-Friendly Hotel Coming to Las Vegas

The Artisan Hotel Boutique in Las Vegas is currently undergoing a multi-million renovation that will conclude with a rebranding of the property into The Lexi, the first cannabis-friendly hotel in Las Vegas.

The 64-bed hotel is located just minutes from The Strip on Sahara Boulevard. When completed, the hotel will have all new guest rooms and the entire fourth floor designated as cannabis-friendly. The new hotel is “recognizing and normalizing the idea of cannabis in travel,” according to a news release on the renovations.

It will offer a place for cannabis users to enjoy themselves, a welcome change from trying to find a hotel where cannabis use is allowed. The creation of cannabis-friendly hotels and other spaces is part of the growing multi-billion dollar cannabis tourism industry.

A Renovated Las Vegas Hotel Welcomes Cannabis Users

The property first opened in 1979 as a Travelodge, becoming the Artisan Hotel Boutique in 2001. Then-owner Doug DaSilva renovated the property to showcase works by artists, including Paul Cezanne, Leonardo da Vinci, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The Siegel Group purchased the hotel in 2010.

In 2022, Elevations Hotels and Resorts, based in Phoenix, Arizona, purchased the hotel for $11.9 million. The company immediately announced plans to make the property a cannabis-friendly hotel.

Company CEO Alex Rizk said in the news release that “The Lexi allows the Elevations Hotels and Resorts brand to truly showcase our commitment to creating a new type of hotel concept that is defined not only by our acceptance and normalization of cannabis in the hospitality space, but also by our dedication to reclaim storied properties and transform them for the modern-day travelers.”

Rizk already has opened a cannabis-friendly hotel with his first undertaking, The Clarendon Hotel in Phoenix. The Clarendon offers 16 cannabis-friendly rooms in the west wing of the hotel. It also has The Elevations Lounge, a “safe and sophisticated space” for cannabis users to enjoy.

Las Vegas Cannabis-Friendly Hotel To Open in Spring 2023

Current plans call for opening The Lexi in the spring of 2023 (travelers can still stay at the Artisan hotel, which remains open during the renovations). The Lexi will operate on a “a premium hospitality concept” that offers a culinary and cocktail program and spring/summer pool party season.

Eventually, The Lexi will offer a membership initiative that is part of Elevation Hotels & Resorts “Elevation Nation” membership program geared toward those “with a wanderlust mindset, cannabis enthusiasm, and taste for new experiences,” according to the news release.

The new hotel will also feature a Cajun-inspired steakhouse led by Executive Chef Jordan Savell (who appeared on the television show “Hell’s Kitchen” in  Season 19). The hotel will also offer a newly designed Artisan Bar & Lounge (which in the past has been voted the best bar in Las Vegas), as well as The Lexi Pool that will offer one of the only European-style pool experiences in Las Vegas.
