You can still turn to professionals for specialty items such as edibles<\/a>, vaporizers and other products. And many will want to simply buy cannabis at a dispensary. But that doesn\u2019t keep you from trying to grow a little on your own for fun, as long as you are in one of the many states that allow you to do so.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll want to make sure you live in one of those states, obviously. But once you do, it\u2019s really not as difficult as you might believe.<\/p>\n

The slang for marijuana is \u201cweed.\u201d That\u2019s not an accident. This isn\u2019t going to come with the same level of difficulty as growing prize tulips.<\/p>\n

The Basics of Growing Marijuana at Home<\/h2>\n

Here\u2019s a quick look at some of the main steps in growing marijuana in your home. Keep in mind that most states limit the number of plants to around four. If you are a beginner, you might just want to start with one and grow it indoors.<\/p>\n

Once you purchase seeds, soil and a pot to put them in, considering the following.<\/p>\n

Time period<\/strong>. A marijuana plant needs to grow about four to six weeks to provide a good flower for harvesting. In order to ensure that time period is met, you need to\u2026<\/p>\n

Control the flowering<\/strong>. Marijuana plants naturally flower only once a year during the shorter daylight periods of the fall. To prevent the plants from flowering prematurely, you must keep them in light for at least 16 hours a day. In order to do that, you will need\u2026<\/p>\n

A lamp<\/strong>. Investing in a lamp to provide artificial sunlight is going to be needed to get those 16 hours of light. You can buy some lamps for as little as $25, although the more expensive ones run up into the hundreds. A lamp proves very important, as it is needed not only for this early part of the growing period but also to\u2026<\/p>\n

Create the flowering<\/strong>. After enough time is passed, you\u2019ll want to reduce the light to 12 hours a day, which will lead to the plant producing its flower. This typically works best in an enclosed, dark space where the only source of light is the lamp.<\/p>\n

Those are the basics, but that gives you an idea. There are many different systems, including hydroponics, raised beds, organics, etc. You can also buy items such as specialty soil for cannabis and fans to circulate air. But rocket science, it is not.<\/p>\n

Why Grow Your Own Marijuana?<\/h3>\n

For some, it might just be an interesting hobby that you can indulge in now that it is legal I many states.
\nAlso, as mentioned above, there are many different approaches in the details of growing marijuana, and doing it yourself allows you to experiment with the different methods and find the one that works best for you.<\/p>\n

You also could save money eventually, if you decide to grow all the marijuana you need. While the initial costs of starting to grow your own might hit you hard, eventually it\u2019s possible to make up the costs once your harvest comes in.<\/p>\n
