Charlotte Figi, the 13-year-old who inspired many people to support medical marijuana legalization, has died from the coronavirus, according to multiple reports out of Colorado.<\/p>\n

A testimonial from Charlotte\u2019s Web CBD, the Denver company named after her, on Facebook<\/a> called Figi \u201cthe light of our lives\u201d\u00a0 and is dedicated \u201cIn loving memory of Charlotte Figi.\u201d<\/p>\n

The post continued, \u201cThank you for your life, your bravery and your beautiful soul.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the Facebook page of Charlotte\u2019s mother<\/a>, Paige Figi, a message posted on behalf of the Figi family said that \u201cCharlotte is no longer suffering. She is seizure-free forever. Thank you so much for all of your love.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Story That Captivated Millions<\/h2>\n

Charlotte Figi lived with Dravet\u2019s Syndrome, a form of epilepsy that causes frequent and severe seizures. In the case of Charlotte, the seizures started when she was an infant and sometimes required hospitalization.<\/p>\n

Searching for a way to better handle the seizures, Paige Figi moved with her daughter to Colorado when Charlotte was five years old. She started giving her cannabidiol (CBD<\/a>), the chemical compound in marijuana that is non-psychoactive but has health benefits.<\/p>\n

Charlotte Figi experienced an immediate change, according to the Denver Post<\/a>. She slept soundly for one of the first times in her life. She went seven days without having a seizure. As she continued using CBD, the number of seizures dropped from thousands a month to just a handful.<\/p>\n

Also, she started speaking again after six months of silence.<\/p>\n

Charlotte Figi Featured in a CNN Documentary<\/h2>\n

CNN focused on what the Figi family went through in a documentary<\/a> seen by millions. According to the Post, \u201cThe high-CBD strain of cannabis that changed her life was named Charlotte\u2019s Web in her honor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since then, hemp-derived CBD has become legal across the country and many states have made medical marijuana legal. The Food and Drug Administration has also legalized Epidiolex, a drug that contains CBD and is used to treat epilepsy.<\/p>\n

As news of Charlotte Figi\u2019s recovery spread across the country, other families moved to Colorado and many of them ordered the CBD oil from Charlotte\u2019s Web that was named after the child.<\/p>\n

According to social media postings compiled<\/a> by WPLG Local 10 in Colorado, the 13-year-old died after a battle against complications brought on from COVID 19 in intensive care.<\/p>\n

In the memorandum for Charlotte Figi, Charlotte\u2019s Web CBD wrote: \u201cCharlotte was ten feet tall and carried the world on her shoulders.
